Athena's depth and breadth of experience as a psychologist include clinical, academic, organizational, and leadership roles in medical, academic, and industry settings. With over 20 years working in the public and private sectors of the U.S. health care system, she comfortably navigates complex systems and supports others to excel professionally in these systems. Known as an effective and experienced expert in program, organizational, workforce, and leadership development, she provides coaching and supervision using a collaborative and developmental approach. When conducting assessments of people and organizations, she tailors interventions on an individual level, and uses her ability to build genuine, trusting relationships to leverage successful outcomes in her work.
Athena is passionate about advocacy at local and national levels, sitting on multiple Boards of Directors, and serving as the President of the Colorado Psychological Association. In addition, she served terms as CPA Diversity Representative, Presidential Advisor, and APA Federal Advocacy Coordinator for the State of Colorado. Being bicultural and bilingual, Athena strives to bring her expertise in cultural responsiveness to work with organizations, teams, and individuals, with the understanding that diversity factors influence worldview and drive behavior.
Athena proudly hails from the beautiful Bordertown of El Paso, TX and currently lives in Denver, Colorado with her partner and two daughters. They love to take long walks and bike rides together through their historic neighborhood and she is grateful to live in such a beautiful state.
