Athena's depth and breadth of experience as a psychologist include roles in clinical, academic, organizational, and leadership positions. With over 20 years working in the public and private sectors of U.S. health care, she comfortably navigates complex systems and supports others to excel professionally within them. Known for her expertise in program, organizational, workforce, and leadership development, she provides coaching and supervision using a collaborative and solution-focused approach. When conducting assessments of people and organizations, she tailors interventions individually, and uses her ability to build genuine, trusting relationships to leverage successful outcomes in her work.
Athena is passionate about advocacy at local and national levels, sitting on multiple Boards of Directors, and having served as President of the Colorado Psychological Association. In addition, she served terms as Diversity Representative, Presidential Advisor, and APA Federal Advocacy Coordinator for the State of Colorado. Being bicultural and bilingual, Athena strives to bring her expertise in cultural responsiveness to work with organizations, teams, and individuals, with the understanding that diversity factors influence worldview and drive behavior.
Athena is from the beautiful Bordertown of El Paso, TX and currently lives in Denver, Colorado with her husband and two daughters. They love to take long walks and bike rides together through their historic Park Hill neighborhood and she is grateful to live in such a beautiful state.
